Then & Now

Lately, while shopping or perusing the interweb, I've been finding myself thinking, "I don't know why, but I don't hate this!...I actually kinda dig it." So, I came up with a list of trends that just a few years ago I never would have touched!:

1) Exotic patterns and animal prints
When I was younger I associated faux snake skins with tacky cowboy hats you'd wear to a Dixie Chicks concert, but designers like McQueen have totally opened my mind to the idea...and I'm terrified of snakes!
Alexander McQueen
2) Pinks
My favorite color was Barbie pink when I was 5. After that, and ever since, it's been all about blue. However, though hot pink is not my go-to, I do adore blush tones and will wear shades anywhere from fuschia to light pink.
3) Chunky jewelry
I love a funky statement piece. Sure, if they're over done they seem obnoxious and distracting, but by playing down the rest of the look, an unusual piece can make the outfit.
4) Leather leggings
I never thought I had the hips to pull off this style, but last week I accomplished exercising (biking, jogging, walking) 18.5 miles and have done 3 miles so far this week, so my thighs have been feeling a bit more confident. I bought a pair I'm testing out  a pair today with my leopard blouse.
5) Braids, braids, braids
I love a good classic, french, and fishtail braid. They are an easy way to turn bedhead hair into something effortlessly structured and often romantic.
