Rules of a Fashionista

More like guidelines to being more fabulous...

1. Simplicity
Coco Chanel once said, "when accessorizing always take off the last thing you put on." On occasion you might feel you have just added the final touches to your look, however, the idea behind this belief is to keep things minimalistic. You should not have to shout for attention, but rather let the look do the talking for you. Be intriguing. Sometimes 'too much of a good thing' can be distracting from an otherwise appealing ensemble and actually be off-putting.

2. Do your research
Keeping up to date with the big names in fashion, recapping events, and speaking the lingo is key. You must know what's coming before it even hits the streets to stay on top; this is called fashion forecasting. The less knowledgable you appear, the less serious you will be taken.

3. Express yourself
What makes you...you? Sometimes it's okay to wear our hearts on our sleeves, I think it makes us stronger. If you find yourself dressing identical from week to week, try inspirations from magazines or style sites. I often go between different looks, sweet & feminine (ex. rose & nude tones), artsy/nature lover (ex. earth tones & combat boots), and refined rebel (ex. sexy, black lace, red lip). Remember what you stand for. The clothes we put on our backs are more than fabric, they are apart of our individuality and what we stand for.
